The Algerian dissident Amir Dzair revealed that Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune will travel to Turkey next week to request a possible Turkish mediation to save the "Polisario" from the fate it is heading towards, given the proximity of resolving the Moroccan Sahara dispute.
Dzair said in the blog post: "Our private and secret sources indicate that Abdelmadjid Tebboune will resort to Erdogan next week to implore him to mediate for the Polisario issue," without revealing any additional details about the nature of the mediation and to which party. Observers believe that the matter concerns imploring a possible mediation from Erdogan with US President Donald Trump, as Tebboune hopes that the Turkish President will stand by him and exploit his special personal relationship with the White House resident. Tebboune seeks to convince Erdogan to play the role of mediator in the file, and to address in his upcoming talks with Trump, the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, to defend the Polisario thesis and Algeria's interests, a matter that observers ruled out, especially considering Turkey's position on the conflict.
