HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs circulated the Friday sermon to various imams and preachers of the Kingdom's mosques. The sermon was chosen to address the themes of the purposes of Hajj, and it came as follows:
The First Sermon
Praise be to Allah, who created man and honored him, and preferred him over many of His creation and blessed him, and liberated him from the advocate of his desire with what He revealed of laws and refined him. We praise Him, may He be exalted, with the praise of those who acknowledge His favors, and the thankful for His great gifts and His giving. And we bear witness that there is no god but Allah, the testimony of one who said, "My Lord is Allah," then he was steadfast. And we bear witness that our master Muhammad is His servant and messenger, the rescuer from the darkness of ignorance to the light of Islam. May Allah's prayers and peace be upon him as long as clouds of supply and blessings have followed the servants, and upon his family, the good symbols, and his righteous companions, and upon those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows, O believers, Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, as he describes the pilgrimage of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he said:
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, announced the Tawhid: “Here I am, O Allah, here I am, here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Indeed, praise and blessings are Yours, and the dominion, You have no partner.”
Servants of Allah, the prophetic biography is a practical application of what came in the Holy Quran of worship, transactions, and morals, and there is no way to understand its meanings, and to realize its purposes and its foundations, except through the biography and the prophetic Sunnah. Today, we quote, by the permission of Allah Almighty, some of the purposes from the teachings of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the obligatory Hajj, in compliance with the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him:
"Take your rituals"
And in the narration of Al-Nisa'i:
"Take your rituals."
And the most important purpose of the major purposes of Hajj is the Oneness of Allah Almighty and singling Him out for worship, which is indicated by the saying of our master Jabir bin Abdullah, the aforementioned:
"The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, announced the Tawhid."
This sentence summarized for us the understanding of the Companions of the Sharia and its major purposes, because the polytheists used to respond with polytheism, and they would include in their rituals the worship of idols, as they used to circumambulate, strive, and attend the feelings according to their desires, and enter from where they wanted and stand where they wanted, and so on from the deviations that contradict the religion of Khalil Ibrahim, peace be upon him.
When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, responded in Dhu al-Hulaifa, he said:
“Here I am, O Allah, here I am, here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Indeed, praise and blessings are Yours, and the dominion, You have no partner.”
So he corrected the people's creed, and negated partners from Allah in His worship, and in that are the following lessons:
First: That acts of worship were only prescribed to unite Allah Almighty and establish His remembrance and gratitude, and this is the goal for which the messengers were sent, and the books were revealed to establish it, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"The Tawaf around the House, and between Al-Safa and Al-Marwa, and the stoning of the Jamarat was only established to establish the remembrance of Allah."
Second: That the saying of Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, announced the Tawhid” is the origin of what the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came with, of liberating man from the advocate of his desire, which is the essence of the command and prohibition in the Quran and the Sunnah, and the way to the pleasure of Allah and Paradise, Allah Almighty says:
“But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and forbade the soul from [evil] inclination, then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.”
And He, may He be glorified, said:
“Have you seen the one who takes as his god his [own] desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge?”
And other verses forbidding the following of desires. As Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:
"Allah did not mention desire in the Quran except to condemn it."
Third: That what the pilgrim bears in the Hajj journey of spending money, and staying away from the homeland and parting with family and loved ones, and removing what the soul is accustomed to of clothing and desires, and joining the masses of pilgrims without distinction in appearances, lineage, and descent, all of that is in order to free the soul from its desires, and to make it feel that the only difference considered before Allah Almighty is the piety of Allah and good morals.
Allah Almighty says:
“And whatever you do of good – Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is righteousness, and fear Me, O you of understanding.”
May Allah benefit me and you with His Holy Quran, and with the hadith of the master of the first and the last, and our last call is that praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
The Second Sermon
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the noblest of the messengers, our master Muhammad, and upon his family and all his companions.
Servants of Allah, Imam Al-Shatibi, may Allah have mercy on him, says:
"The Sharia's purpose from laying down the Sharia is to take the accountable person out of the advocate of his desire until he becomes a servant of Allah by choice, as he is a servant of Allah by necessity."
This text, servants of Allah, summarizes the purpose of the revelation of the laws and rulings, which is to bring man out of the worship of the self to the worship of Allah Almighty.
And the meaning that he is a servant of Allah by choice is that he believes in Allah Almighty and is sincere to Him in worship, and does good deeds in various fields of his life, as he is a servant of Allah by necessity, as he had no choice in his birth, upbringing, age, lineage, stature, color, and course of his life.
If the servant realizes this fact, which is clearer than being deduced from it, that will be more conducive to submission and authorization in what is demanded of him of voluntary servitude, and thus he is truly a servant of Allah by choice, and achieves the meaning of the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him:
"Say: 'I have believed in Allah,' then remain steadfast."
This, and may you send prayers and peace upon the Prophet of guidance and guidance, and the intercessor interceded on the Day of Resurrection, our master Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. O Allah, bless and grant peace to our master Muhammad and to the family of our master Muhammad, as you blessed and granted peace to our master Abraham and to the family of our master Abraham in the worlds, you are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
And may Allah be pleased with the rightly guided caliphs; Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali, and with the rest of the companions from the Muhajirin and the Ansar, and those who followed them in goodness, and with us, with them, by your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful, O Lord of the worlds.
And may Allah grant victory to those whom you have entrusted with the command of your servants, and have extended his hand in your land and your countries, our master, the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, a victory by which you honor the religion, and raise the banner of Islam and the Muslims. O Allah, bless him with health and wellness, and delight His Majesty with his beloved Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay El Hassan, and strengthen his support with his happy brother, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, and with the rest of the members of the Sharifian Royal Family, you are Hearing, Responding.
And may Allah envelop with His vast mercy, and great generosity, the two noble kings, our master Mohammed V, and our master Hassan II. O Allah, purify their soil, honor their resting place, and make them in a seat of truth with you. With those on whom you have bestowed favor from the prophets, the righteous, the martyrs, and the righteous. And those are good companions.
O Allah, make us love faith and adorn it in our hearts, and make us hate disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience, and make us among your rightly guided servants.
O Allah, give our souls their piety, and purify them, you are the best of those who purify them, you are their guardian and master, O Allah, forgive us, our fathers, our mothers, and our sheikhs, and have mercy on our dead and the dead of the Muslims, and turn to us, you are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
Our Lord, give us in this world goodness and in the Hereafter goodness, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they describe, and peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
