Several Moroccan markets have witnessed a noticeable stagnation in egg sales in recent days, despite the drop in prices to levels described by sellers as "unprecedented".
In this regard, a number of sellers confirmed their surprise at the continued weak demand despite the drop in the price of eggs, with one of them saying: "Eggs for 10 dirhams and no one wants them," referring to the state of recession currently hitting the market. Observers believe that this decline may be linked to changes in the behavior of the Moroccan consumer, especially with the spread of new dietary systems based on reducing some food products, including what is known as the "goodness system". In contrast, professionals consider that what is happening may be just a temporary recession associated with the decline in purchasing power or changes in consumption habits after periods of holidays and occasions, stressing that markets know from time to time similar periods of calm.
