The Royal Gendarmerie elements in the Benqrich region managed, this evening, as part of their efforts to combat drug trafficking, to stop a light vehicle that was coming from the direction of Chefchaouen towards the city of Tetouan.
According to available data, the search operation carried out by the gendarmerie elements resulted in the discovery of more than two kilograms of hashish inside the vehicle, where the driver and another person with him were arrested, while two other people who were on board the vehicle managed to escape. The detainees have been placed under custody, by order of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to deepen the investigation and reveal all the circumstances of the case, as well as to determine the potential extensions of this criminal activity.
