HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The local authorities in the Beni Yakhlef region, near Mohammedia, have launched monitoring and raid campaigns targeting a number of warehouses and "makazats" and places suspected of being used for storing sheep, as part of monitoring the supply situation of the market as Eid al-Adha approaches.
These movements come, according to special data published by HIBAPRESS, after increased talk about some brokers and speculators resorting to storing sacrifices away from the markets, pending an increase in demand during the last days before Eid. The interventions aim to monitor compliance with legal and regulatory controls, and to limit practices that may affect the normal functioning of the markets or contribute to speculation and rising prices. Citizens and professionals are awaiting the results of these movements, amid calls to intensify monitoring to ensure transparency of transactions and protect the purchasing power of families as Eid al-Adha approaches.
