HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Baraka
Revenues related to customs disputes recorded a significant jump during the year 2025, an indication of stricter punitive measures and increased monitoring operations. Fines increased to approximately 1.15 billion dirhams, compared to 775 million dirhams in 2024, after being around 605 million dirhams in 2023 and 552 million dirhams in 2022.
The revenues from the sale of seized and confiscated goods also witnessed an unprecedented surge, increasing from 90 million dirhams in 2024 to more than 350 million dirhams in 2025, reflecting an increase in the volume of seized goods and the expansion of field interventions. Returning to the evolution of the cases, the upward trend is clearly evident over the past four years. In 2022, about 36,000 cases were recorded, before jumping in 2023 to more than 62,000. This high level stabilized relatively in 2024 at about 62,000 cases, to rise again in 2025 to nearly 67,000 cases, with a growth rate exceeding 7 percent, in the context of intensifying the fight against smuggling and commercial fraud.
