A major fire broke out, destroying hundreds of palm trees in the Akrad oasis located in the Tamanart territorial community, Tata province, in the Souss-Massa region.
The huge fire, which broke out due to a strong heatwave, yesterday afternoon Saturday, destroyed hundreds of palm trees in this oasis, which from time to time records a number of fires.
Reports from local sources indicate that local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, auxiliary forces and firefighters had arrived on the scene and that all logistical means were being mobilised to extinguish it before it spread.
The Royal Gendarmerie has opened an investigation into the incident to find out the real causes, noting that the National Agency for Water and Forests had issued a circular indicating the places likely to witness fires, but dealing with this phenomenon requires the involvement of everyone to protect this biosphere.
