Heba Press – Rabat
Yesterday, Tuesday in Rabat, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohamed Seddiqi, chaired two working meetings with professionals from the red meat and milk sectors respectively with the aim of discussing the measures necessary to maintain the balance of these two chains and strengthen food sovereignty in a difficult context marked by drought.
During these meetings, the parties agreed on a number of measures aimed at preserving the achievements linked to the development of these two sectors, such as continuing support for livestock feed for breeders of cows, sheep and fattening products, support for the importation of fed animals and preparing a law on livestock breeding.
Measures also included the development of drought-resistant fodder crops such as white maize, the regulation of artificial pollination, the importation and sale of seeds, the development of the production of the most productive mixed breeds, the preservation of female ewes and cows and the development of a regulatory framework for cows and sheep fattening units.
Additional working meetings are planned to finalize these measures and implement the contracts for the milk and red meat programs.
