Dakhla Power Plant Obtains “ISO 14001” Certificate for Environmental Management

The Dakhla power plant has obtained the “ISO 14001” certificate, version 2015, for environmental management, after successfully passing an inspection mission including all administrative, operational and support processes.

A press release from the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water, indicates today Thursday, that as part of the establishment of an environmental management system in the thermal power plants of the Office in the southern regions of the Kingdom, the Dakhla power plant, with an installed capacity of 76 megawatts, has successfully passed a certification review mission according to the ISO 14001 standard, version 2015.

The communication specifies that this certificate was granted after an inspection mission carried out by a specialized institution which included all administrative, operational and support operations concerning all the station’s activities.

The same source stressed that this distinction confirms the continued commitment of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water to environmental sustainability through the reduction of environmental impacts, the reduction of emissions, the rationalization of energy consumption and the responsible management of waste, noting that this project is part of the vision of the Kingdom of Morocco, which places sustainable development in the turnaround of its national policy aimed at reconciling economic growth and environmental protection.

The communication adds that the success of this inspection process also testifies to the participation of all office users in taking initiatives to improve environmental performance in accordance with the policy of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water in this area.

The communication specifies that this distinction is the third of its kind after the Tan Tan power plant (115.5 MW), which obtained the same certificate in March 2023, and the Laayoune power plant (93 MW), which itself obtained the same certificate in February 2024.
