HIBAPRESS – Sports
The Royal Army team has officially learned its opponent in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, after Ivorian club Ihefu secured qualification at the expense of AS PSI of Chad.
The Ivorian team succeeded in winning the second leg by two goals to nil, confirming their progression to the next round, after the first leg had ended in a two-all draw.
Thus, Ihefu of Ivory Coast will be the first opponent for the Royal Army in the current edition of the Confederation Cup, in a match where the military team seeks to achieve a positive result away from home, before playing the return leg in Morocco and securing qualification to the group stage.
The draw for the second preliminary round had pitted the Royal Army against the winner of the match between Ihefu and AS PSI, with the first leg to be played outside Morocco, while the military team will host the return leg in Morocco.
The Royal Army aspires to enter the continental competition strongly, and to benefit from its African experience to overcome the hurdle of Ihefu and continue its journey in the Confederation Cup, with the aim of competing in the advanced stages and going far in the competition. It is worth noting that the leader played in the final of the African Champions League last season.
