The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water has just started production of the project to strengthen and secure the drinking water supply of the cities of Souk Sebt Ouled Nemma, Ouled Ayad and Dar Ould Zidouh, in the Province of Fquih Ben Salah. With a total cost of approximately 134 million dirhams, financed by a loan from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the project to strengthen and secure the drinking water supply of the cities of Souk Sebt Ouled Nemma, Ouled Ayad and Dar Ould Zidouh, includes the extension of the Afourer treatment plant and the raw water pumping station as well as the laying of 60 km of pipelines. The commissioning of this major project will produce an additional water flow of approximately 16,400 m3/day and therefore secure the drinking water supply of the aforementioned cities and neighboring municipalities by 2035, thus benefiting a total population of 100,000 inhabitants. This major project, which is part of the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, the agreement of which was signed on January 13, 2020 before HIS MAJESTY KING MOHAMMED VI, MAY GOD ASSISTS AND GLORIFIES HIM, will make it possible to compensate for the deficits recorded in the drinking water supply of this area following the drop in the water table level caused by the low rainfall that the region has experienced in recent years, a consequence of successive years of drought. This major project will contribute to improving the living conditions of the beneficiary populations and supporting the socio-economic development of the Region.
