The immediate misdemeanor chamber of the Court of First Instance in Fez concluded yesterday, Wednesday, September 16th, the proceedings in a judicial case related to suspicions of fraud, forgery, and the use of commercial companies, by convicting a well-known businessman to one year of effective imprisonment.
According to available information, the individual in question was prosecuted for actions related to establishing companies and using them in commercial and financial transactions, including benefiting from bank loans, along with suspicions related to trading in invoices and forgery in commercial documents.
The same data indicates that the accused, along with three individuals who are currently at large and for whom arrest warrants have been issued, used to create companies before transferring their ownership to individuals close to him. These individuals were then urged to open bank accounts and obtain checkbooks, before signing documents related to the companies, under the pretext of contributing to their marketing and expanding their commercial activity.
According to the same sources, some of these companies, accounts, and checks were used to purchase luxury cars, building materials, and iron. This information formed part of the investigations initiated by the competent authorities.
The elements of the Regional Judicial Police Brigade intervened in the case, based on instructions from the competent Public Prosecution, and following data and a report issued by the Financial Control Department of the Regional Directorate of Taxes in Fez.
The investigations, according to the available data, resulted in the arrest of the main accused and his referral to the Public Prosecution, which decided to prosecute him in detention, while national arrest warrants were issued against three individuals suspected of being involved in the case.
After the case was presented to the court and its elements were discussed, the immediate misdemeanor chamber issued its verdict, convicting the main accused to one year of effective imprisonment, pending the judicial procedures concerning the other suspects.
