The Prime Minister and former Secretary-General of the National Rally of Independents party, Aziz Akhannouch, attacked during a rally in Tetouan what he described as "electoral promises" made by parties and rivals during the election campaign, considering that their analysis reveals, in his words, their contradiction with reality and the field.
Akhannouch said he did not want to talk about the owners of these promises, before adding that analyzing their content makes them seem contradictory, whether with reality, with the field, or even with the figures who present them.
In the context of discussing the election campaign, Akhannouch used football language, saying that he initially thought the competitors "would bring us a striker who scores goals," before it became clear, in his words, that they "are playing defense," while considering that the Independents' candidates are the ones scoring goals.
Akhannouch linked this to what he described as the party's candidates' understanding of the concerns and aspirations of Moroccans, before moving on to discuss the atmosphere of the election campaign, recalling his experience during the 2021 elections.
Akhannouch, who was the party leader during the 2021 elections, said that the enthusiasm of the current election campaign was, according to his observation, greater than the enthusiasm of the 2021 campaign, recalling that the party obtained 2.1 million votes at that time.
Akhannouch concluded his speech by sending a message to the party's militants and citizens who participated in its election campaign, saying: "Go with confidence.. Go with calm."
