An investigation has been opened against Algerian runner Djamel Sjati after he won bronze in the 800 metres
French newspaper L’Equipe has revealed that Algerian runner Djamel Sjati is under investigation for possible suspicions or close to the notion of doping, according to the report published just seconds after the 800m final at the Paris Olympics.
Today, Saturday August 10, the French newspaper L’Equipe reported in an article that Djamel Sjati was the subject of a French investigation for “suspicions of doping”, which occurred a few hours before his last race.
The French report stated: “Algerian Djamel Sjati, Olympic bronze medalist in the 800 meters, is the subject of legal proceedings.”
She continued: “Our sources have confirmed that agents from the Central Office for the Fight against Environmental Harm and Public Health, also responsible for the fight against doping, carried out inspections at the Olympic Village on Thursday, August 8.”
The French newspaper continues: “The investigation targeted the Algerian athlete specializing in the 800 meters, Djamel Sjati, and his coach, Ammar Benida.”
She added: “According to our information, the gendarmerie of the Central Office for the Fight against the Environment and Public Health, competent in matters of the fight against doping products, intervened at the Olympic Village as part of the investigation opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office.”

Algerian runner Djamel Sjati won the first Olympic medal of his career after finishing third in the 800 metres on Saturday at the Paris Olympics.
