Moroccan-born Belgian taekwondo athlete Sarah Shaari made history at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Sarah Shaari won the bronze medal in women’s taekwondo in the 67kg category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (Friday).

Sarah Shaari won her bronze medal by beating Uzbekistan’s Ozoda Superjonova, 2-1.

In her first Olympic participation, Shaari became the first veiled Muslim girl in European history to win an Olympic medal.

Sarah Shaari was born on May 2, 2005 in Belgium to a Moroccan father and a Belgian mother. She started practicing taekwondo at the age of five. She quickly fell in love with the sport and continued to practice it.
