Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, confirmed on Thursday in New York that "if the return of irregular migrants and minors does not happen, it is solely Spain's responsibility."
Bourita explained, in a statement to the press following talks he held with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Albares, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, that Morocco is based on fundamental principles represented by "its clear stance on the return of all irregular migrants and unaccompanied minors." The minister said: "If the return of irregular migrants and minors does not happen, the question should not be directed at Morocco, but at Spain." Bourita asserted that this situation remains linked to "Spanish debates, obstacles, and difficulties."
