Runner Fatima Zahraa Kirdadi has apologized to Moroccans after failing to win a medal in the marathon at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kirdadi, a bronze medallist at the last World Championships, posted a message on her official Facebook account saying: “Excuse me, I wanted to give a medal to my country, but you can’t blame it.”

She added: “I won’t provide any justifications, but God knows what happened to me before the marathon, in light of the injuries, illnesses and other difficult things that happened during the last week of preparation.”

She continued: “I apologize to everyone who supported me in getting the medal. They made it possible for me to do this.”

It is worth noting that runner Fatima Al-Zahraa Kirdadi finished in 11th place in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics, highlighting that she won the bronze medal at the recent World Championships in Budapest.
