HIBAPRESS – Ahmed El Mosaad
The province of Figuig is preparing for a new phase of territorial development, with the allocation of a total financial envelope of 60 million dirhams (6 billion centimes), aimed at modernizing the road network and rehabilitating under-equipped neighborhoods in various centers and communes belonging to the province.
These development projects come within the framework of a strategic partnership agreement between the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of National Land Use, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy, the Figuig Provincial Council, and the concerned local authorities.
According to data from the comprehensive rehabilitation programs in the province, the largest share of investment has been allocated equally between the two poles of the province, with 30 million dirhams for the Bouarfa commune council and 30 million dirhams for the Figuig commune council. These direct credits aim to restructure and modify main roads, streets, and alleys in the urban areas to enhance their attractiveness and improve the quality of life for residents.
In a related context, the agreement extends to the integration and rehabilitation of under-equipped neighborhoods and centers in various rural communes within the province's jurisdiction. The field plans and technical studies include a package of communes, namely: Abbou El Khel, Beni Kil, Ain Cheair, Chaouater, Bouanane, Beni Tadjite, Talsint, Boumeryem, Bouchaoun, and Maaterka.
The amounts allocated to these communes are distributed based on development priorities and ongoing technical studies, with the aim of addressing spatial imbalances and covering the deficit in basic facilities.
The phase of preparing technical studies and launching tender requests to identify the contracting companies is currently underway. The provincial services and elected institutions are counting on strengthening cooperation between the companies awarded contracts, study offices, and local authorities to ensure the rapid realization of these projects under the best conditions, in anticipation of launching other development phases that serve sustainable development in the province.
