Claudio de Gonzalez, president of the Professional Council of Agricultural Engineering of Argentina, stressed that the approach adopted by Morocco to combat water stress through the desalination of seawater, particularly for irrigation purposes, is “very important.”
“I think it is very important that Morocco addresses this problem using the desalination approach,” Gonzalez said in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press.
The president of the professional council added that, given “the nature of the region in which Morocco is located, the adoption of water desalination is the future of water use, whether it is related to energy production, drinking water or crop irrigation.”
Mr. Gonzalez considered that the success of the water desalination project depends on the availability of well-trained human resources, capable of ensuring effective management of this increasingly scarce resource, in addition to the mobilization of significant financial resources.
He stressed that “cooperation between Argentina and Morocco, in this context, would allow achieving greater efficiency in water use and risk management.”
In this regard, he stressed the call of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to create a nation to train engineers and technicians specialized in the field of water desalination.
