A number of Moroccans, who were evacuated this Sunday morning from the Guano camp in occupied Ceuta, chose to voluntarily return to Morocco after spending more than two months in the city, following the wave of mass entry recorded at the end of last July.
The website "El Faro de Ceuta" reported that groups of Moroccans left the city through the Tarajal crossing, after being transported by buses to the area, following the evacuation of the gathering set up at the site of the old Guano factory.
The same source added that this return comes as an extension of similar operations witnessed by occupied Ceuta in recent days, after other Moroccans chose to return to their country following the dismantling of informal gatherings, including the Trampolin beach camp.
A number of Moroccan migrants had settled in various locations in the city before they ended up residing in the Guano gathering, in the absence of stable accommodation and reliance on informal camps.
The evacuation of Guano is part of a series of interventions targeting migrant gatherings on the beaches of occupied Ceuta in recent weeks, after the city witnessed a wave of mass entry at the end of last July.
