UFC Paris: Afghani martial artist Nasrat Haqparast wins fight under the Moroccan flag

Afghani martial artist Nasrat Haqparast chose to represent Morocco when he defeated Canada’s John Makdessi on Saturday at UFC Paris.

The fighter dedicated his win to King Mohammed VI, thanking him for his “big support.”

Haqparast clarified during the press conference after the fight that he was not allowed to fight under the Afghani flag, without providing details as to why.

“I was very proud and happy to represent the Moroccan flag, because the country supported me in my sports career a lot,” Haqparast noted.
