Tomorrow Friday, kick-off CAF Interclub 2024-25: The action resumes in full swing. Touarga enters the competition

The 2024/25 CAF Interclub Competitions season kicks off tomorrow, Friday 16th August, marking the official start of the race for continental supremacy. The CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, which ended successfully last season, are back in the spotlight with preliminary rounds starting this weekend. The first leg matches will be played from 16th to 18th August, while the return legs are scheduled for 23rd to 25th August 2024. The second preliminary round will be played from 13th to 15th September for the first leg and from 20th to 22nd September for the return leg, which will allow the finalization of the group stage draw process. The top 12 teams in the CAF rankings, including reigning Champions League champions Al Ahly (Egypt) and last year’s runners-up Espérance (Tunisia), are exempt from the first round of play-offs. The same system applies to the Confederation Cup, where twelve participating clubs, including defending champions Zamalek, are exempt from the first round. Despite the fact that both competitions are still in their infancy, African football fans can expect some high-level encounters. Clubs from across the continent will be doing everything they can to qualify for the second round, and eventually the group stage of both competitions. Among the exciting encounters in the CAF Champions League, the clash between reigning champions Young Africans of Tanzania and Vital’O FC of Burundi is worth noting. Egypt’s Pyramids FC, who had a breakout season last year, will face JKU SC of Zanzibar, while South Africa’s Orlando Pirates FC will take on Disciples FC of Madagascar. In the CAF Confederation Cup, Zambia’s Zesco United will take on Zimbabwe’s Dynamos FC, in a game that promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful encounter. Moroccan side UTS take on Ivorian side RS Abidjan, while Ghana’s Nsoatreman FC host Chadian side TP Elect Sport. Fans are invited to join the live discussions on CAF’s digital platforms using the hashtags #TotalEnergiesCAFCL And #TotalEnergiesCAFCC.
