Morocco and Saudi Arabia sign memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in health and social protection

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Professor Khaled Ait Taleb, received on Friday, August 16, 2024 in Rabat, the Saudi Minister of Health, Dr. Fahd bin Abdel Rahman bin Dahs Al-Jalajel, and his accompanying delegation, who are on a working visit to Morocco.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection said in a statement that this meeting represented an opportunity to inform the Saudi delegation of the various projects launched by Morocco for a radical reform of the national health system under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. The most important of these projects is the universalization of social protection and comprehensive health coverage, as well as the development of the pharmaceutical and vaccine industry.
The communication indicates that this visit is part of the existing ties of friendship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the desire of both parties to develop horizons and means of cooperation in areas of common interest.
On the sidelines of the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed on improving the quality of health and patient safety, as well as combating pandemics and epidemics, including early monitoring and taking necessary measures to control them. The memorandum also includes public health, preventive medicine, therapeutic medicine, digital health and virtual medicine. In addition, opportunities for cooperation in the field of blood transfusion services will be explored to ensure the availability of sufficient and safe blood in both countries.
The provisions of this memorandum will be implemented, according to a report by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, through the exchange of information and expertise, the organization of visits between experts and specialists, the organization of conferences and seminars and the exchange of training in the field of health. as well as encouraging scientific research in the field of health and medicine, as well as the exchange of information in the field of medicine and telemedicine.
The Saudi Minister of Health and his accompanying delegation also visited health and industrial centers specializing in the production of vaccines.
