The Royal Judo University’s random nature and failure to achieve positive results call into question those who oversee sports affairs
Despite the appropriate capacities and conditions available to the Royal Moroccan University of Judo, the Moroccan sports scene in this field continues to suffer from a notable decline in performance at the international level. Despite the presence of appropriate infrastructure and equipment, the results obtained by Moroccan athletes in foreign competitions, the most recent of which are the Olympic Games, are poor, which remains below expectations, which raises questions about the management of the university and the effectiveness of its strategies for success.
For years, the Moroccan judo team has suffered a notable decline in its performance in international competitions. Despite the existence of suitable conditions to develop players and produce world champions, the results have been disappointing.
On three occasions during the Olympic Games, which represent the pinnacle of international sporting competitions, Moroccan athletes have failed to achieve feats that live up to the reputation of the sport in the country, which widens the gap between expectations and reality and underlines the need to reassess the methods used by the Royal Moroccan Judo Federation.
It seems that one of the most important challenges facing Moroccan sport is the tendency of some Moroccan champions to emigrate, secretly or openly, abroad in search of a more favorable and development-friendly environment. This reflects the frustration that athletes feel because they do not receive adequate support and opportunities at home.
It is worth remembering here that sport is not only an investment in individuals, but rather in the entire nation, and that when champions tend to emigrate abroad, this represents a major loss for the national sport and negatively affects the ability to compete on a global scale. The list we have come up with is that of Moroccan champions who preferred “Al-Hreik” to Europe. They settled in Belgium and France, which confirms the above.
The leadership of the Royal Moroccan Judo University continues under the leadership of its current president, Kettani, who may seek a new term despite the notable failure that accompanies it the maintenance of the same person in the same position for many years. without achieving positive results reflects a lack of change necessary to improve sports performance. Leadership Long-term developments that lack innovation and renewal contribute to discouraging efforts and limiting ambitions. Therefore, the sports scene now needs to renew its leadership and change its strategy accordingly. with new challenges and opportunities.
In addition to management issues, practicing athletes suffer from neglect and insufficient support, which negatively affects their development and achievement of desired results, due to improper care and insufficient training, which leads to a drop in performance level and missed opportunities for success.
Ultimately, improving the situation requires paying more attention to athletes, providing them with distinguished training programs, psychological and financial support, and reevaluating current policies to ensure positive results.
