The President of the Dominican Republic informs His Majesty the King of his country’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara

Today, Saturday, August 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic issued a statement following the reception given by the President of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Luis Abinader, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, during which the Dominican President instructed Mr. Bourita to inform His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, “with the Dominican Republic’s firm support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and its determination to make the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla a priority in its future expansion projects.
The communication explains that President Abinader reiterated that the Dominican Republic “considers the autonomy plan presented by Morocco as the only solution to the dispute over the Sahara.”
The communication adds that during this reception, which took place at the National Palace, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the President of the Dominican Republic, Minister Bourita, during which he represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, conveyed to President Abinader His Majesty’s congratulations and his wishes for success in his new mandate.
The minister also conveyed, according to the same source, the invitation of His Majesty the King to Mr. Louis Abinader to undertake an official visit to Morocco, with a view to establishing a framework for deepening bilateral relations in various areas.
The communication indicates that President Abinader affirmed, on this occasion, his desire to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in all areas, and his intention to visit Morocco in response to the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
