Heavy rains flood the neighborhoods and streets of Smara and cause the collapse of mud-brick houses.

During the night from Sunday to Monday, the Smara region experienced heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.

According to local sources, the heavy rains caused flooding of most of the city’s neighborhoods and streets and water entered several homes, causing significant material losses.

In the same context, torrential rains caused the collapse of some mud-brick houses in several neighborhoods, without causing any casualties.

Local authorities mobilised their various elements to intervene: rainwater was evacuated through drainage channels, residents were assured of leaving collapsed houses and all measures were taken to assess material losses and compensate their owners.
