Port of Dakhla: coastal and traditional fishing discharges increased by 20%

The quantities of coastal and traditional fishing products landed at the port of Dakhla increased by 20 percent at the end of last July, according to data published by the National Fisheries Office.
The office indicated, in its latest report on coastal and traditional fishing statistics in Morocco, that the quantity landed at the end of last July totaled 72,504 tonnes, compared to 60,259 tonnes during the same period in 2023.
The same source explained that the financial value of these discharges recorded an increase of 25% during the first seven months of the year 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching more than 553.258 million dirhams.
He added that the quantities of pelagic fish landed at the port of Dakhla increased by 33 percent, reaching 65.75 tons, with an estimated financial value of 365.057 million dirhams (+66) compared to the quantities of white fish landed at the port of Dakhla. At the port of Dakhla, it recorded a decrease of 33 percent at the end of last July to reach 7,248 tons. As for molluscs, the quantities landed recorded a decrease of 60 percent to reach 5 tons, with a financial value of 5 tons. approximately 419 thousand dirhams (-73%), while the quantities landed of crustaceans recorded a decrease of 28%, reaching 175 tons (more than 26.403 million dirhams / -28%).
