Understanding the Census: Population Covered by the Census

HIBAPRESS-RABAT-HCP

The population covered by the RGPH is made up of the municipal population residing in ordinary households, in addition to homeless people, nomads and the population counted separately.

The legal population of Morocco is made up of the municipal population and the population counted separately:

The municipal population is composed of all persons residing in the kingdom regardless of their nationality and residence status: regulatory or non-regulatory. The municipal population covers persons living in ordinary and nomadic households as well as homeless persons.

The population counted separately is the set of persons who, on the census reference date, are living under the same roof in an establishment for work or other reasons (barracks, detention centers, boarding schools, charitable homes, construction sites, etc.). These are:

● Gendarmes and soldiers in the barracks

● Prisoners or similar

● People in hospitals

● People in hospices and charitable homes

● People from large construction sites who do not have permanent accommodation…
