The new campaign launched by Facebook activists to boycott the consumption of chicken has managed to respond to the fact that its price has reached more than 35 dirhams per kilogram today, which has negatively affected the demand for the most popular white meat in consumption, which has negatively affected small and medium breeders who have no income. They have prices.

Professionals explained that given the increasing demand for chicken meat in summer, when there is a demand for organizing wedding parties, which makes the price remain dependent on the principle of low supply and abundant demand, and therefore speculation contributes to increasing the price, sometimes in a way that seems high and unacceptable in the eyes of the customer.

Professionals pointed out that the price of poultry feed has increased significantly due to the lack of support and the greed of the producing companies, which puts them in direct confrontation with the customer while the largest companies double their profits without being criticized.

This price hike has sparked widespread discontent among consumers, who have expressed their anger at these unprecedented increases in food prices, especially since chicken is one of the staple foods in many families’ daily meals. Most of them have resorted to buying a chicken carcass called “carcass”, the price of which ranges from 3 to 5 dirhams per carcass.

Moroccan markets are still experiencing fluctuations in the prices of consumer goods, which has led to a drop in demand for them, while waiting for their price to stabilize on the market, while the debate remains permanent between producers, traders and the consumer, the weak link in this chain, after purchasing power has suffered violent shocks, making it difficult for the citizen to perceive… He is holding his breath, especially since the Eid period, with the summer holidays, is followed by the “bombing of pockets” pyramid when entering the next school season, and the increases it entails in teaching fees and the high cost of study supplies.
