Cannabis Culture..Royal Pardon Supports Morocco’s Commitment to Human Rights

The Director of the Directorate for the Control and Protection of Human Rights at the National Human Rights Council, Abdelrafie Hadhi, indicated today Tuesday in Rabat that the royal pardon granted to persons convicted, prosecuted or investigated in cases related to the cultivation of cannabis firmly supports the involvement of the Kingdom of Morocco in the human rights approach in the fight against drugs.

Mr. Hamdi stressed, in a statement to the Arab Maghreb Press, that this royal gesture will contribute to guaranteeing the right of the excluded to participate in local development, considering that it is a human right, as well as their inclusion in the new strategy aimed at legalizing the cultivation and use of cannabis for medical and industrial purposes, in accordance with Law 21-13 relating to the legal uses of marijuana.

He explained that this royal pardon is in line with the human rights approach developed by the United Nations in its international strategy to combat drugs, noting that the Human Rights Council in Geneva is keen to keep pace and monitor the implementation of this human rights approach in countries. public policies at the level of each country.

It is worth noting that on the occasion of the anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People this year, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, granted his Mawlawi pardon to 4,831 people who were convicted, prosecuted or investigated in cases related to the cultivation of Indian cannabis and who met the conditions required to benefit from the pardon.
