This year’s commemoration of the 71st anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People is an opportunity to remember the true values of patriotism, resistance and sacrifice, considered a source of pride, strength and cohesion for the construction of a modern Morocco.
The Moroccan people and members of the national resistance and the liberation army commemorate, in an atmosphere of constant national mobilization, this glorious epic, which reflects one of the striking images of the people in their fight for their independence and territorial unity and gives a fine example of the strength of the links existing between all the components of the Moroccan people, under the leadership of the glorious Alaouite Throne, indicates a press release from the High Commission for former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army.
By celebrating this 71st anniversary, which coincides this year with the celebrations of the 61st birthday of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the family of the resistance and the liberation army intends to instill in the younger generations the values and teachings of this grandiose epic, drawing inspiration in this approach from the High Royal Guidelines calling for lessons to be learned from the national struggle, adds the same source.
This is a noble mission and a responsibility that falls to all Moroccans, as His Majesty King Mohammed VI has emphasized on many occasions, notably in his speech to the Nation on July 29, 2023, on the occasion of the Throne Day, notes the High Commission.
In this speech, the Sovereign stressed that “we need more than ever to demonstrate the seriousness that all Moroccans understand: First, through an unwavering attachment to religious and patriotic values and to our eternal motto: God-the Fatherland-the King. Secondly, through the unwavering attachment to the national unity of our country and its territorial integrity. Then, through the safeguarding of social and family ties from which will ultimately emerge a more united and caring society. Finally, through the resolute pursuit of the quest for development that will make it possible to achieve the desired economic progress and strengthen social and spatial justice.”
The Resistance Family reaffirms, in this regard, its permanent and continuous mobilization behind His Majesty the King in the defense, without concession, of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, notes the press release, specifying that the commemoration of this 71st anniversary takes on a special character this year, especially since it takes place in a context marked by the recent diplomatic victory of Morocco, with the support of France for the sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara.
To celebrate this memorable national holiday, the High Commission is organizing, on Tuesday, August 20 (11 a.m.) at the National Space for Historical Memory, Resistance and Liberation, in Rabat, a meeting with a program of testimonies, a tribute to former resistance fighters and members of the liberation army, as well as the distribution of financial and social aid to several members of the resistance family.
It also involves the organization of educational and cultural activities on national history in all regional, provincial and local delegations and in the spaces of historical memory of the family of resistance and liberation throughout the Kingdom, in coordination and partnership with government departments, public institutions, local authorities, associations and civil society organizations.
