New law allows pharmacists to perform series of rapid diagnostic tests
Pharmacies will seek to provide new health services to patients, thanks to a new law that allows pharmacists to perform a group of rapid diagnostic tests (TROD).
The new health services include blood sugar tests, oral tests for type A strep and throat tests for influenza, in addition to pregnancy and ovulation tests.
In order to ensure that this health service is carried out properly, the pharmacist must inform the patient of the nature of the analysis and its limitations, as well as the possible need to confirm the result by a medical biology test. The pharmacist must also keep a record to monitor the results and facilitate patient follow-up.
