Al-Halimi: We have provided all the necessary conditions for the success of the census process

The High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Al-Halimi, confirmed yesterday Thursday in Dakhla that a global mobilization is the key to the success of the General Population and Housing Census of 2024, which will begin on September 1.
During this meeting, which is part of a tour that starts from the city of Dakhla to include different parts of the Kingdom in order to shed light on the statistical process, Al-Halimi stressed that all the necessary conditions were met for the success of this great right, which Morocco implements every ten years, in execution of the High Royal Instructions contained in the letter of His Majesty King Mohammed VI addressed to the Prime Minister.
He mentioned during this meeting which was attended by the governor of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, the governor of the Oued Eddahab region, Ali Khalil, the governor of the Awsard province, Abderrahmane El-Gohary, and the president of the regional council, Khattat Yenja, alongside the heads of the territorial councils, representatives of foreign interests, elected officials and community activists, stressed that the general census process of the population and housing serves as a reference basis for providing information. information to determine the growth capacity, stressing that, given its exhaustive nature, it will make it possible to determine the status of each individual residing in the Kingdom, as well as their living conditions and the situation of the country in various aspects and at all levels.
The High Commissioner for Planning added, in this context, that the preparatory cartographic work is considered necessary to complete the census and ensure its exhaustiveness, explaining that this tool distinguished itself in establishing the 2024 census by adopting an integrated information system that made it possible to update the content of digital maps and cartographic location of buildings, economic establishments and collective facilities using digital signage and based on high-resolution satellite images.
In the same context, Al-Halimi stressed that in carrying out this seventh census of this type, the High Commission for Planning produced two maps, the first relating to buildings, because the process of cartographic localization of these allowed, for the first time, the geographical localization of 4,138,900 buildings in the urban center and more than 33,682 roundabouts in the center, which will allow complete coverage of families during the census, without omission or duplication in the counting process.
Al-Halimi explained that the second map concerns economic and socio-cultural institutions (mosques, cultural centers, etc.), collective facilities (public administrations, schools, hospitals, etc.), associative institutions (associations, unions, etc.) and weekly markets.
Al-Halimi stressed that the implementation of this process using a mobile geographic information system, the results of which, after being published, will enable users to produce dynamic and interactive maps through a dedicated platform, providing detailed information on the demography and characteristics of various economic activities at the territorial level.
Earlier in the day, the High Commissioner for Planning chaired the inauguration ceremony of the new headquarters of the Regional Directorate of the High Commission for Planning in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region in Dakhla, as part of the modernization of the resources made available to the Commission and as part of a larger project represented by the complete digitalization of all statistical information production lines.
