HIBAPRESS-RABAT
The 12th edition of the Voix de Femmes Festival kicked off yesterday with a series of key events, illustrating the festival’s commitment to solidarity, culture and female empowerment.
The day began with a solidarity activity at the Tetouan Penitentiary Center, where a medical caravan provided care to female prisoners, followed by a friendly lunch in their honor. This humane initiative concluded with a musical entertainment led by a local female troupe, bringing a moment of comfort and sharing to the center’s residents.
The Marina Smir Hotel then hosted the official press conference of the festival. The organizers presented the rich and varied program of this 12th edition, focusing on this year’s theme: “Women, essential partners for lasting change”. The President of the Voix de Femmes Association, Ms. Karima Benyaich, highlighted the fundamental values of the festival, including the promotion of women’s rights and intercultural dialogue.
The opening night was held at the Spanish Theatre in Tetouan, where the large audience was transported by an exceptional flamenco show, followed by the national anthem. Ms. Benyaich’s speech preceded a moving tribute to exceptional women, highlighting their significant contribution to society. The evening closed with a performance that fused flamenco and Andalusian music, with memorable performances by Zainab Afailal and the Maria Olé Flamenco group, providing a fiery start to the festival.
