Young Moroccan player signs up for Brazilian championship

Midfielder Mohamed El Arouch, who played for Olympique Lyonnais (OL), has signed with Botafogo, the Brazilian club announced on Wednesday.
Aged 20, the Franco-Moroccan player has signed a contract until June 2026, specifies Botafogo, a club based in Rio de Janeiro and belonging to the Eagle Football group of John Textor, who is none other than the president of OL.
Mohamed El Arouch leaves on a free transfer, but with a 50% interest in a possible future sale to the French club, where he has played for most of his career.
“Botafogo will be able to count on the play of Mohamed El Arouch. (…) A talented player, with great potential and having played in the French youth team, El Arouch arrives motivated at Glorioso with a contract valid until the end of June 2026. Welcome to your new home, El Arouch!”, wrote the Carioca club on its website.
According to the Brazilian press, Mohamed El Arouch has been in Rio de Janeiro since the beginning of August and is already training with the rest of the team, currently leader of the Brazilian Championship, under the leadership of Arthur Jorge.
