Ittihad Tawarka bids farewell to Confederation Cup
Tawarka Federation bid farewell to the African Confederation Cup, after being beaten by their hosts, Racing Club Abidjan of Côte d’Ivoire, on penalties (2-1), at the end of regulation time, with a score of nil-nil, in the match that pitted them together today, Saturday, for the return leg of the first preliminary round of the competition.
The first leg between the two teams last Saturday ended in a goalless draw.
Union Tawarka looked for chances to open the score during the first half, but the Turkish team failed to put the finishing touches.
The white score dominated the second half, with no threat to either team’s goal, so regulation time ended in a draw and the two teams went to penalties.
Luck smiled on the Ivorian team in the penalty shootout, with a score of 2-1, thus securing a ticket to the second preliminary round of the African Confederation Cup.
