The National Union of the Moroccan Press mourned for the media body of our country and for the Moroccan people the death of one of the oldest members of this profession, the journalist Jamal Barawi, who died today at dawn at the Cheikh Khalifa hospital in Casablanca after a long fight against illness.
The National Union of the Moroccan Press presented its sincere condolences to the small family of the deceased and to his large media family, asking Almighty God to cover him with his immense mercy, to dwell in his vast gardens and to inspire his family and loved ones with patience and comfort.
The union considers that the death of Jamal Barawi will undoubtedly leave a great void among us, and our consolation is that we will all remember his firm positions, through which he consistently defended the essential role of this profession in building society.
The late Jamal Barawi is “a living example of a journalist who was involved in the field, as he was always at the forefront of all the nation’s battles.” He never hesitated to embrace causes that might seem lost on the surface, motivated by his deep conviction of their necessity and importance. He firmly believed that accumulation was the way to achieve development and progress, and that through perseverance and determination, the media could play its part in bringing about real change.
