In a painful incident of betrayal, an Egyptian village in Sharkia governorate witnessed the kidnapping of a child by her neighbors, who demanded a huge ransom from her mother. The incident caused a huge uproar on social media and in the Egyptian street.
Specifically, the neighbor’s 11-year-old daughter went to the two-year-old girl, Kenzi, asking to accompany her to buy household items. The child’s mother complied in good faith with her request.
However, shortly after, the child returned without “Kenzi” and with traces of blood on her hand, and she told the child’s mother that she had been kidnapped by a woman wearing a niqab and a man wearing glasses who had left with her on a motorbike.

The mother said in press statements to local media that she was extremely shocked when she learned of the abduction of her two-year-old only daughter and that she contacted her expatriate husband abroad to tell him what had happened and went to the police station to report the abduction of her little girl.
The mother confirmed that she received a phone call from the kidnappers, where they threatened to kill her child if she informed the authorities. They also asked her to pay a huge ransom of one million pounds in exchange for the release of “Kenzi.” even though she is of average condition and cannot manage this huge sum.

In fact, the authorities and detectives who emptied the surveillance cameras moved to follow the route of the attackers, as well as the telephone line from which the kidnappers contacted the mother to find out where she was.
After hearing the statements of the neighbors and the child who was with “Kenzi” at the time of the crime, the child’s statements changed before the investigating authorities and she was forced to confess to having handed over the child “Kenzi” to her mother who asked her to and who took the child with her brother out of the village.
The neighbour confessed to kidnapping the child, “Kenzi”, in collaboration with her brother to demand a ransom from her mother, who had no one else. She helped the authorities locate her brother, as it turned out she had given birth to the child and he took her in a “tuktuk” outside the village to begin negotiating with the mother for the ransom, then she returned to the village to pretend to help her neighbour search for the kidnapped girl.
Indeed, the authorities were able to arrest the brother of the first accused, return the child to his family and take the necessary action against the accused while detaining them pending trial.
For her part, the mother said that she did not imagine that her neighbor would commit this heinous act, by kidnapping her child and pretending to look for him and help him, and that this case has deeply shocked her, because no one is safe, even if they are the closest neighbors.
Social networking sites were abuzz with the incident, as social media pioneers interacted with it and expressed shock that the neighbors kidnapped a child of that age to negotiate with their neighbor, considering that betrayal has become everywhere, while others expressed appreciation for the intensive efforts of the authorities that contributed to the return of the child to his mother’s arms within hours of the kidnapping.
