OMPIC: 54,380 new companies created in Morocco since January 2022

Over 54.380 new companies have been created in Morocco during the first seven months of 2022, according to recent data from the Moroccan Office of the industrial and commercial property (OMPIC).

By sector, trade accounts for 36.28% of the total number of business creations, followed by construction and public works (BTP) and real estate activities with 18%, and miscellaneous services (17.47%).

Transport accounts for 9.03%, industries 6, 89%, hotels and restaurants 6.4%, information technology and communication 2.59%, agriculture and fisheries 2.23% and financial activities 1.11%, says the OMPIC.

Regionally, the Casablanca-Settat region is in the lead with 15,435 companies, followed by Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (7,556), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (7,323), Marrakech-Safi (5. 346), Fez-Meknes (4,297).

Souss-Massa accounted for 3,583 new companies since the start of 2022, L’Oriental (3,051), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (2,512), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (1,924), Drâa-Tafilalet (1,480), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (1,269) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (605).

Regarding the legal form, 62.7% of companies created are single-member limited liability companies (SARLAU), 37% of limited liability companies (SARL) and 0.2% of public limited companies (SA).

The new companies are divided between 38,004 legal entities and 16,377 natural persons, says the same source.
