Why do meat prices continue to rise?

The Moroccan Federation of Livestock Sector Actors has published a press release in which it denounces the miserable situation facing the red meat sector in Morocco.

The Moroccan Federation of Livestock Sector Actors blamed the scarcity of commodities, particularly sheep and cow heads for slaughter and fattening.

The professional federation noted in a report on Wednesday the lack of a clear vision on the part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests and the National Office for Food Safety, to emerge from the crisis experienced by the red meat sector.

The same source criticized the absence and marginalization of a large category of actors, including small and medium farmers, importers and wholesalers and installment traders, from dialogue and the expression of opinions to find the necessary solutions.

The trade body confirmed that it does not accept the attempt by the relevant ministry to upload new tax books without consulting the importers who suffer as well as exporters.

The Commission has threatened to develop a programme of struggle, awareness-raising and legal action and to oppose, by all legitimate legal means, any decision aimed at serving certain interests and harming the interests of the real players in the sector.
