The Municipal Council of the city of Fez, during an extraordinary session held the day before yesterday Monday, approved the creation of the group of local authorities “Fez-Meknes Distribution”. In this context, the members of the Council approved the agreement concerning the creation of a group of groups that will supervise the management of water and electricity distribution facilities and liquid disinfection.
The main objective of this initiative is to create in the future a regional multi-service company in accordance with Law No. 83.21, which aims to reform the current system of management of electricity, drinking water and liquid disinfection services.
Thus, the group of local authorities “Fès-Meknès Distribution” will play an important role in the transition to this new management model aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of public services in the region.
Following a press statement made by Mayor El Bakkali during this session, he indicated that this group will be one of the active players in multi-service companies at the regional level.
He added: “This initiative will play an important role in the management of a number of important public services at the regional level, related to drinking water, electricity and disinfection of liquids.”
He then stressed the strategic importance of this project which is part of the visionary vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in terms of basic public services.
He stressed that services will be provided to all citizens in the best conditions, thanks to rational and efficient management.
The group of local authorities “Fès-Meknès Distribution”, in addition to the management of water and electricity distribution facilities and liquid disinfection, aims to ensure the implementation of projects aimed at universalizing the supply of drinking water and electricity, particularly in rural areas.
This comprehensive approach will be activated in partnership with the State and other relevant sectors, in order to ensure effective coordination of efforts aimed at improving infrastructure and services across the region.
According to the draft agreement on the creation of the “Fez-Meknes Distribution Group”, the group will be headed by a council whose number of members will be determined by a decision of the Ministry of the Interior. The group’s office is composed of a president and four deputies elected by the group’s council.
This governing body aims to ensure balanced representation of the different territorial groups concerned and to facilitate effective decision-making.
According to the members of the community council, this approach aims to improve the living conditions of the population and contribute to sustainable development.
