The Head of Government chairs the second meeting of the national commission for gender equality and the empowerment of women

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch chaired, Monday March 25, 2024 in Rabat, the second meeting of the national commission for gender equality and the empowerment of women, during which was presented and discussed the government plan for equality 2023-2026 “The Morocco of leadership, prosperity and values”.

The Head of Government first recalled the conclusions of the first meeting of the commission, which was an opportunity to adopt the strategic framework of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, and emphasized the importance of the government plan to enable women to enjoy their full rights and to strengthen gender equality.

Ms. Aawatif Hayar, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, presented the broad outlines of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, which is based around three strategic axes : empowerment and leadership, protection and prosperity and rights and values, in addition to the plan's governance and steering system. This government plan, spread over 4 years, also includes 288 measurements.

The development of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, which took place within the framework of a participatory methodologywas marked by the holding of 5 consultation meetings with ministerial departments and national institutions, as well as 5 consultation meetings with associations of local authorities, civil society and the private sector.

After discussion of the different components of the plan, the Head of Government called on the parties concerned to finalize the development of the governance system and the related financing plan, with a view to presenting this plan for adoption by the Governing Council.

This meeting of the national commission for gender equality and the empowerment of women was marked by the participation of members of the government, representatives of national institutions, presidents of associations of regional councils, councils of prefectures and Provinces, municipal councils, as well as the representative of the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc and representatives of civil society associations members of the committee.
