Queues at Nador crossings spark discontent among Moroccan community

Heba Press: Abdel Salam Barcelona, Mohammed Zariouh

The long queues faced by the Moroccan community when returning to their country of residence have sparked widespread discontent, particularly due to the damage caused to many families who were unable to reach the ships on time. The suffering has been exacerbated by the scorching heat of the sun and the lack of comfortable conditions, forcing many families to return to their homes in the regions of Nador, Driouch, Al Hoceima and Berkane.

Waiting times at the busy Bab Melilla post extended by more than 10 hours, while they exceeded five hours at the Beni Ansar-Nador maritime station. This difficult situation forced children and the elderly to lie down on the ground, exhausted, before beginning a long journey that could take two to three days to reach their homes in different European countries.

Members of the Moroccan community met by Heba Press expressed their discontent and demanded urgent intervention by the competent authorities to end the queue crisis that harms the reputation of the homeland. They also called for improving the organization of the “Marhaba” process and facilitating entry and exit procedures, in addition to dealing with chaos at crossing points, including the spread of beggars who disturb travelers.

The stage of the return of the Moroccan community during the operation “Hello 2024” via the passage of Bab Melilla and the maritime station of Beni Ansar sparked a wave of criticism on social networks, where the subject was widely circulated and criticized by various activities inside and outside Morocco.
