Akhannouch defends the benefits of the disaster area reconstruction program

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch confirmed today Monday in Rabat that the process of reconstruction and rehabilitation of the areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake is continuing “in a positive and serious manner”, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions.
Akhannouch indicated, in a statement to the press after chairing the 11th meeting of the interministerial committee in charge of the general program for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake, that the implementation of the various axes of this program, in execution of the instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has recorded positive progress in many aspects and sectors.
He added that all government sectors have been mobilized and have worked seriously and with continuous dynamism throughout this period, stressing that the state has provided all the conditions to facilitate the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged houses, providing families with financial support and reconstruction permits accompanied by free technical assistance.
Akhannouch stressed that the progress of construction projects concerns, to date, a total of 49,632 housing units, after the competent authorities issued about 55,000 permits, while the support allocated to reconstruction and rehabilitation has now reached the fourth batch (20 thousand dirhams for each batch) for families who have reached… He explained the advanced stages of the process of building their houses, stressing that thanks to him, a thousand families have been able to successfully complete this process.
In this regard, he expressed his hope that the rest of the families will accelerate their construction process in order to benefit from the successive stages of bringing them into line with the state’s pace, noting that the monthly financial aid allocated to families (2,500 dirhams per month) has now reached the 11th month out of 12 for the benefit of 63,862 thousand families.
The Prime Minister continued that during this period, a number of sectoral projects were launched, with the others nearing completion, noting, in this regard, that the rehabilitation of 54 kilometers of rural roads was completed and that great progress was made in the field of rehabilitation works of national road No. 7. Which passes through Trois Nicoub and connects Al Haouz to Taroudant.
At the level of the agricultural sector, Mr. Akhannouch indicated that the process of distributing heads of herds and barley to farmers is being completed and that all needs have been covered.
As for the education sector, the Prime Minister said that 111 schools are ready to welcome students with the current school entrance fee, in addition to 58 schools that will be ready next November and 52 other schools in February 2025.
He stressed that these schools will accommodate approximately 19 thousand students, with the possibility that 1,287 schools, undergoing partial or complete reforms and changes, will be ready to accommodate students for the 2025/2026 school season.
Regarding the health sector, Mr. Akhannouch revealed that the rehabilitation works of 42 health centers have been completed and that they will be opened in the coming weeks.
He added that the process of removing the rubble resulting from the earthquake has reached a rate of between 92 percent and 95 percent, depending on the region, which is “a very positive thing” given the difficulty of the process, stressing that monitoring will continue until affected residents can return to their homes.
