The NGO Tibu Africa and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports have agreed to give new impetus to their partnership by signing a new 2024-2027 agreement with a view to broadening the scope of education through sport initiatives and increasing the number of beneficiaries across the country.
During the signing ceremony which took place at the headquarters of the ministry on Friday, August 30, 2024, Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, reaffirmed his department’s support for the activities of Tibu Africa and welcomed this new phase of the partnership, the ambition of which is to strengthen physical and sporting activities in primary schools and to maximize their impact on the academic success and personal development of children and young people.
Mohamed Amine Zariat, President of Tibu Africa, recalled the importance of this partnership, which aims to make the school a space of well-being and sharing of citizenship values for children and to promote the professional integration of young people through sport.
The agreement covers three areas of collaboration: (1) the Sports Generation program which will increase the number of public primary schools from 150 to 900 over 3 years, at a rate of 300 schools per year, enrolling a total of 600,000 beneficiaries, (2) strengthening the offer of second chance schools-New generation oriented towards sports professions, and finally (3) the Education through Sport Summit in Africa which will take place in April 2025.
The education through sport program consists of providing public primary schools with Sport-Health facilitators in order to offer children a quality education through sport, which preserves their health and contributes to the development of their self-esteem and their motor, cognitive and socio-affective capacities, thanks to programs designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle, promote self-esteem, develop social skills and improve academic success. The aim of this agreement will therefore be to enable 600,000 students from 1,000 public primary schools to benefit from “Education through sport” activities by 2026. The implementation of the program in public primary schools is supported by Tibu in partnership with the AREFs and the provincial directorates of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports.
Each year, 300 new schools will adopt the program, with a distribution of 25 schools per region, thus covering the 12 regions of Morocco.
The second axis of the Convention concerns the 2nd chance schools – New Generation – Oriented to Sports Professions whose aim is to train young people in NEET situations to become agents of positive change. Each year, these schools will welcome 150 young people (450 young people in the long term) who will follow a training program aimed at developing their technical and behavioral skills, in order to qualify them to actively integrate into the world of work, particularly in sports professions.
The training provided in second chance schools is recognized by diplomas and certifications.
The co-organization of the 3rd edition of the Summit on Education through Sport in Africa from April 3 to 6, 2025 confirms the excellence of the partnership between the NGO Tibu Africa and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and is part of the ambition of both parties to make sport a factor of inclusion and a lever for growth in African countries. By bringing together public decision-makers, the various partners and all stakeholders around this dynamic, Tibu Africa and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports intend to strengthen the place of sports practice and physical activities in the development of public policies and to improve the supervision of young people with a view to their socio-professional integration.
This new phase of the partnership between the NGO Tibu Africa and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports is an example of an effective public-civil society partnership with the support of several foundations and private sector players.
