Mauritanian newspapers have been reporting on Mauritanian citizens purchasing real estate outside their country, confirming that around 15,000 Mauritanians have purchased homes in Morocco in recent years, with a spending rate of 600 billion ouguiyas.

The same unofficial data shows that more than 15,000 Mauritanian citizens own ready-to-use homes in the most prestigious Moroccan cities, such as Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat, Tangier, Laayoune and Dakhla, some of which are luxury properties.

Mauritanians prefer to invest in the acquisition of real estate in Morocco, taking into account first of all the strong and good relations between the two peoples and the security, safety, stability, development and unity of the infrastructures provided by the Kingdom, and the natural and tourist capacities that allow Mauritanians to spend their holidays in Morocco, while some have preferred to settle permanently in Moroccan cities.
