Institutions that require payment of the “parents’ association” fee before registering students + a photo
Heba Press – Rabat
It seems that the government’s efforts, led by the Ministry of National Education, Primary Education and Sports, to combat the phenomenon of school dropouts, particularly at the primary education level, will record negative results due to the practices of certain directors of educational establishments accused of collusion with “parents’ associations”.
During this conversation, Heba Press received complaints from several parents and guardians of students, claiming that several institutions had forced them to pay “parents’ association” fees to register their children.
The complainants stressed that they were surprised by the imposition of sums of money to be paid to “parents’ associations” as a condition for registering their children and entering the departments for the start of the school year.
The plaintiffs said that a number of parents and guardians of students were forced to pay the association’s fees to enroll two or more of their children, noting that the case coincided with the cancellation of the “One Million Wallets” initiative and the costs of school admission in Cairo.
The complainants requested the management of the above institutions to grant them a grace period to pay the association’s fees or to pay fees for one child instead of two or more children from the same family, but they were surprised when the proposal was rejected and they were asked to pay before registering.
The plaintiffs called on the Ministry of National Education to intervene to put an end to these dangerous practices which, despite all efforts, contribute to exacerbating the phenomenon of school dropouts.
