Economic life has regained its usual dynamism thanks to the efforts made to repair and rehabilitate the road network damaged by the Al Haouz earthquake, after the rehabilitation of the roads helped connect the communities and districts of the region to the different urban centers, and facilitate the flow of movement of people and goods.

Thus, the repair of roads, which represent the pillar of economic activity, has contributed significantly to the return of commercial activity and the strengthening of the local economy, particularly tourist activities, which has had a positive impact on local businesses and small trades.

In this regard, the project includes the rehabilitation of national road No. 7 linking Tahnaout and Taroudant, in particular the section linking Ouarkan and Thalat Niaqoub, which constitutes one of the basic projects of the urgent rehabilitation program of the province of Al Haouz, with the aim of reviving the economic, social and tourist dynamism of the region.

In this context, Radouane Ait Diwan, owner of a tourist shelter in Werkan, indicated that “the rehabilitation of the roads has contributed to promoting tourism in the region”, noting that “thanks to the rehabilitation and repair of the roads, access to the shelter has become very important.” easier and safer for tourists.

Aït Diwan added, in a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press, that “the rehabilitation of the roads has allowed us to revive our tourist activity, to strengthen the attractiveness of the region and to reinforce the tourist flow towards areas characterized by beautiful and peaceful mountain landscapes.”

He stressed that the construction of roads in mountainous areas represents an essential lever for the economic development of the region, which can open new opportunities for young people to create innovative tourism projects, such as eco-lodges, adventure centers and guided tour projects.

He also called, in passing, on the youth of the region “not to give up in achieving their dreams and ambitions, not to give up in the face of challenges, and to learn lessons and benefit from every experience.”

For his part, Rashid Butsaft, a hairdresser from the Wirkan community, expressed in a similar statement his joy at seeing the major concrete road projects included as part of the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, noting that the work is progressing at a good pace.

He said: “The road linking Tahanaout to Taroudant represented, in the past, a great challenge for us, especially in winter, when the situation was bad due to frequent interruptions caused by heavy rains,” adding that this section of road is of vital importance for the socio-economic development of the region.

Potsaft, who praised all those who contributed, directly or indirectly, to laying the foundations for these achievements, expressed the hope that this dynamic of promising projects will continue, particularly in the areas of social and economic development in the region.
