The program for the 22nd edition of the L’Boulevard Festival, scheduled for September 12 to 15, was unveiled on Wednesday evening during a press conference organized in Casablanca.
L’Boulevard, an event dedicated to budding artists, promises a program with exclusive concerts, an associative and creative market and varied activities, not forgetting the iconic Tremplin L’Boulevard musical competition.
On this occasion, the director of the festival, Mohamed Merhari, alias “Momo” indicated that L’Boulevard returns this year with 4 days of festivities with a musical style per day, but also with big names on the bill such as Mehdi Nassouli, Aïta Mon Amour, Fehd Benchemssi, Suicidal Tendencies, noting that this demonstrates the musical variety that makes the identity of this festival.
Returning to the Tremplin L’Boulevard competition, Mr. Merhari explained that this edition broke all records with more than 550 applications received, including 433 for Rap alone, adding that 7 hip-hop groups, 4 fusion groups and 4 metal groups were selected for the final stages.
This year, the association souk will bring together around forty stands, he continued, noting that the public will find committed associations there such as ALCS, Tamaynut and Afrikayna, which have been working for ten years for intercultural exchange, co-development and cooperation in Africa.
Inviting families to enjoy the festival, Mr. Merhari stressed that children will have the opportunity to discover the world of Colokolo, the emblematic company of contemporary circus in Morocco.
For his part, the co-director of the festival, Hicham Bahou, highlighted the diversity offered by the programming of this 22nd edition of the festival, noting that the 15 groups selected for the Tremplin come from all four corners of the Kingdom.
In this sense, he maintained that the winners of the competition will have the opportunity to follow several masterclasses during a week, such as writing, body expression, copyright and contract law, expressing his wish to see young talents invited to other festivals.
It should be noted that this edition pays tribute to Mehdi Laurent Alexandre Farhat, nicknamed “Mehdi Metallica”, who left a deep mark on the Rock/Metal scene in Morocco. His legendary white Fiat Uno, adorned with the name of his favorite band, his iconic tattoos and his unwavering support for local bands made him an essential figure for all those who shared his passion. Present at all the concerts of the genre since the early 1990s in Casablanca, he has become an undisputed pillar of this musical scene.
Scheduled on the RUC stage, the L’Boulevard festival evenings will be hosted by a host of Moroccan and foreign artists and groups from rap/hip hop, rock/metal, fusion and others. These include DJ Sim-H, Nab Fake, Nayra, Aïta Mon Amour, Guiss Guiss Bou Bess, We Come For War, Orion, Manudigital feat Dapatch and Tarwa N-Tiniri.
