Algerian television continues its wickedness against the Kingdom of Morocco (photo)
In a move that sparked controversy and surprised many observers, Algerian television used an old “scoreboard” during the broadcast of the Algerian national team’s match against Equatorial Guinea, as part of the qualifiers for the “Morocco 2025” Africa Cup of Nations.
This behavior has attracted attention because it contradicts the practices followed by the rest of the sports channels that are adopting a new “scoreboard” in which the name of Morocco appears as the official organizer of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.
The strange decision by Algerian television raises questions about the real reasons for this behavior, especially since the new internationally approved scoreboard shows the name of the tournament’s host country, which in this case is Morocco.
Instead of following accepted media standards, Algerian television chose to ignore these details and use an old-fashioned scoreboard that avoids referring to Morocco, which is interpreted as an attempt to avoid mentioning the Kingdom’s name, in a move that some see as an expression of a political position rather than a simple technical error or artistic choice.
This behavior has sparked much criticism among observers and the media, who believe that such politicization of sport is incompatible with the principles of sportsmanship, especially since it is a continental championship organized by the Kingdom of Morocco, which is supposed to be recognized and respected by all member states of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
At a time when sport seeks to strengthen unity and cooperation between countries, it appears that some Algerian media are still trying to exploit sport as a tool for expressing political positions, which has aroused the discontent of a large number of supporters and followers.
